For this entrepreneur it is the thrill of starting a new business which drives him. Alexandre Pini work travelled the world, researching business ideas and settled in Singapore to launch his venture, Braseiro.
What’s your story?
My name is Alexandre Pini, I’m 26 years old and the founder of Braseiro.
After graduating from engineering school in France, I travelled all over the world for a year, to meet entrepreneurs and discover new business ideas. On this journey, I worked everywhere to finance this project, and the easiest jobs to find were in restaurants as a dishwasher or kitchen helper. It was during this time, I fell in love with Singapore and learnt a lot about myself. So I decided to match my passions with my business acumen and to launch Braseiro.
What excites you most about your industry?
I like the restaurant industry for its proximity to the customers and its challenges. I am more passionate about the business side of things than by the food and beverages sector (F&B). I like the thrill of starting a company from nothing, doing my best to make it successful and then jumping into the next one.
What’s your connection to Asia?
I discovered Singapore a few years ago during an internship with my school in France.
Favourite city in Asia for business and why?
Singapore, for it’s dynamic work culture. I think you can do business anywhere in the world, the moment you feel personally comfortable with the place.
What’s the best piece of advice you ever received?
To learn swimming you have to jump off the diving board.
Who inspires you?
Richard Branson, Will Smith, Sofiane Pamart.
If you had your time again, what would you do differently?
All my mistakes have helped me to progress, so if I had my time again, I would do exactly the same thing. All experiments deserve to be lived.
How do you unwind?
Nice food, travel and a muay thaï.
Favourite Asian destination for relaxation? Why?
Bintan, for its proximity to Singapore . Also it has many amazing, small unknown places throughout.
