Tinh Nguyen enjoys studying his competitors businesses to learn new strategies.

What’s your story?
I’m Tinh Nguyen, CEO & Founder of Asia Mar Tech Group Inc, a Vietnam-based marketing technology company. I also founded Success Conferences LLC with offices in the US. This company organises the Success Conference & Expo series. I started my first business in 2008 with a coder background. After many ups and downs in business and learning from multiple experts and international leaders, I am now running Asia Mar Tech Group Inc which is not only growing in Vietnam, but also expanding in Asia.

What excites you most about your industry?
In the business world, sales are the biggest challenge. Many enterprises succeed, while a lot don’t, though they trade the same products or services. What is the difference between them?

I study many successful businesses and I have come to realise that the root for their victory lies in their strategy. They know how to run their businesses and importantly, they possess a converting sales funnel. I am excited about digging into the secrets of these successful businesses and applying their strategy to my clients’ businesses and my own.

Don’t get me wrong, I am not just a copycat. Applying a strategy doesn’t mean imitating everything else. Every business has its own culture, ways of management, execution and procedure. The important thing is being creative in each component of the strategy.

In order to know exactly what your competitors are doing, is to understand them; buy their products, watch how they sell, up-sell and take care of their clients. This is my way of learning. Being abreast of competitors is what excites me.

What’s your connection to Asia?
Asia is my home. I was born and brought up in Vietnam.

Favourite city in Asia for business and why?
Asia is my target market. Any city with good support from its government for innovation and startups, especially support related to technology and digital technology is in my market.

As Hanoi is my place of birth and where I grew up, it is my favourite city for business. Hanoi, is a fast growing city with an improving business environment. It’s government offers frequent assistance to grow SMEs. Although, I’d love to have offices in Hong Kong and Singapore, as the two most dynamic and buzzing cities in Asia.

What’s the best piece of advice you ever received?
Never, never, never give up. We think too much. We worry too much about failure while what we should focus our energy on is thinking about what makes us successful. If we are sure about a goal and a way to go about achieving it, we should never give up. If we can’t run, we will walk. If we can’t walk, we might crawl. We will step forward at any price. Definitely, we get where we want to be.

Who inspires you?
Perhaps, the two people who inspire me are my father and mother. They gave me life, nurtured and stayed by my side when I was in trouble or failed. They have always supported me, even when I was out of my comfort zone.
Showing gratitude to parents is something every child should do. A good way to do that is to develop ourselves and keep studying to achieve success and happiness in work and in life.

What have you just learnt recently that blew you away?
I have had the chance to meet and learn from many great people from all over the world. I am inspired by Tony Robbins, Jay Abraham, Neil Patel, Nick Peroni, Grant Cardone, Russell Brunson and so many more.

If you had your time again, what would you do differently?
I believe that everything happens for a reason. However, if I had my time again, I would have invested more in my personal development.

How do you unwind?
It seems business makes businessmen, and I am no exception. I don’t really ever unwind. I enjoy reading on business things which are of interest such as sales funnels and customer behaviours.

Favourite Asian destination for relaxation? Why?
For a long vacation, Bali. It is a great place for relaxation. For a short vacation, Sapa in Vietnam especially in winter. There is no snow where I am, but in winter, we can see snow fall in Sapa.

Everyone in business should read this book:
Every businessman should read the book “Start by Why” by Simon Sinek. For a CEO of a marketing enterprise, I recommend, “Invisible Sales Machine” by Ryan Deiss, “Dotcom Secrets” by Russell Brunson, “Ask” by Ryan Levesque, and “Getting Everything You Can Out of All You’ve Got,” by Jay Abraham.

Shameless plug for your business:
www.successconf.com is the must attend conference where you find good business and marketing strategies, new traffic channels, effective conversion rate optimization breakthroughs, quality business opportunities and everything you need to know to grow your business to the next level.
